Woyo Coulibaly: Leicester sign defender in £3m deal

Leicester City have signed French full-back Woyo Coulibaly from Parma for a reported fee of £3m.

Coulibaly, 25, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal after an agreement was reached with the Italian club, subject to international clearance.

His contract with Parma was set to expire at the end of the current season.

He is the Foxes’ first signing of the January transfer window and the first recruit since Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed manager in November.

“It’s an honour to be here. I feel very good, very welcomed and the training ground is very impressive,” Coulibaly said via Leicester’s website, external.

“There’s been a lot of impressive players at the club. It’s going to be a challenge in the Premier League but one that I’m very much looking forward to.”

Coulibaly made 88 appearances in three-and-a-half years with Parma, helping the club achieve promotion to Serie A last season.

The Frenchman could make his Leicester debut when Van Nistelrooy’s side host Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
