A great initiation often lays the foundation of success one aims. India Women’s target to whitewash the visiting West Indies Women’s side kicked off with terrific new ball bowling from pacer Renuka Singh Thakur who snapped three quick wickets including big fishes, Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin.
After suffering back-to-back defeats on Indian soil, West Indies eyed to avoid a clean sweep by deciding to bat first after winning the toss. However, the decision didn’t quite pay off as the Indian new ball attack wreaked havoc on the visitors. Renuka continued his brilliance with the new ball as the great Jhulan Goswami’s advice ahead of the series helped her make a scintillating impact on the outcome of the contest.
The North India-based pacer missed the radar on the first ball of the match as she angled one length ball down the leg stump against Qina Joseph. However, the left-hander gloved it on the way to the keeper and the onfield umpire Swaroopanand Kannur acknowledged her half-hearted appeal. The last delivery of the same over saw Matthews cut in two halves, courtesy of an in-swinging delivery pitched on a length that skidded into the skipper and castled the stumps after beating the inside edge. A carbon copy dismissal followed in the fifth over when the veteran Dottin fell prey to Renuka’s viscious new-ball bowling.
Fiery Renu!!!
