Cricket is known for its worldwide entertainment but often the contest between two teams can turn out one-sided, causing boredom to the spectators. However, few players, when around, never let that happen like Kieron Pollard did a funny act at the dead end of the first innings in a recent CPL match.
Eyeing to strengthen their position in the points table, the Trinbago Knight Riders’ decision to field first at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium turned out to be a nightmare against the St Lucia Kings openers. Faf du Plessis and Tim Seifert orchestrated a 145-run opening stand to set up the finish for the lower middle-order batters. However, their fall led to a collapse, courtesy of Pollard’s four-for highlighted by a funny send-off to Shadrack Descartes.
Having already outwitted Faf, Roston Chase, and David Wiese in his three-over spell, Pollard got smacked for a four and a six in the last over of the innings by Descartes. Unfettered by the runs conceded, the all-rounder bowled a full and slow delivery outside the stumps after seeing the batter shift towards the leg stump. The right-hander had to reach for the ball and eventually, the ball skewed off the top edge as he intended a slog down the ground. Tim David at long had to wait for the ball to come and took an easy catch before the focus shifted to the bowler who was seen pointing a finger at the leaving batter and gesturing a gunshot playfully. Pollard has always been known as an entertainer in the field and his epic send-off left the Twitterverse in splits.
