‌WATCH, BBL | Brody Couch searches for ‘mates’ after tripping over from nasty landing

no photo

One often looks for a shoulder of support in times of adversity. Melbourne Stars fast bowler Brody Couch had a similar expression written across his face after tripping over due to a nasty landing from his bowling runup as Melbourne Stars squared off against the Perth Scorchers at the Optus.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Marcus Stoinis’ 37 helped the Stars stabilise the stage from early setbacks. While the Scorchers’ pacers pulled the trigger back, Tom Curran’s quickfire 37 in the later stages of the first innings propelled them to 146/9 in 20 overs. In response, Peter Siddle and Adam Milne struck early with the ball before Cooper Connolly counter-punched the opposition with his brute power. Amidst the play, Couch, who was used as the first-change bowler, stole the show for the wrong reasons.

Following 30 runs inside the field restrictions, Couch was summoned to bowl the fifth over. As he was about to make a landing during the bowling run-up, he tripped over and fell down. Couch took a while before he got up and looked totally disappointed with himself. His right leg landed on the toe, causing a disruption in the bowling mechanism as the bowler fell off. Couch lay in the ground for a while searching for someone to surround him but eventually got up and decided to reload.
