India’s woes with the bat continued on Day 3 of the third Test at the Gabba as the side was reduced to 6/2 within the first 13 balls of their innings in response to Australia’s commanding total of 445. The wrecker with the new ball was once again Mitchell Starc, who after his match-winning heroics in the Adelaide pink ball Test, continued to soar high in Brisbane with two wickets in his first two overs to derail the Indian campaign before it could take off. Particularly amusing was how he scalped young Yashasvi for a third time in the series already, all of which came in the first over itself.
Jaiswal got the Men in Blue off to a statement-making start by expertly guiding a full delivery outside off in the gap between slips and gully for a boundary. However, his rival was way too experienced to be fazed, and responded with a much straighter delivery headed towards middle stump with just a hint of movement. Looking at the fullish length, Jaiswal’s eyes lit up once again but this time the execution could not live up to the plan as the opener chipped the ball straight to Mitchell Marsh at forward square leg for the most innocuous of dismissals.
Starc was unsurprisingly ecstatic given the prowess Yashasvi has shown to rack up big runs and Twitterati was quick to grasp onto this growing rivalry between two great talents from different eras.

Soft one
Soft dismissal. Jaiswal.
Absolute soft dismissal. Cannot have it. Getting out to good balls is fine, but this isn’t on.#AUSvIND— Nikhil 🏏 (@CricCrazyNIKS) December 16, 2024

Yup
Jaiswal vs Starc is slowly turning out to be England vs Johnson. Getting out to him seems inevitable as soon as Jaiswal walks out to bat. #INDvsAUS
