Team Abu Dhabi’s decision to field first after winning the toss in the tournament opener yielded dividends as the triumvirate of Mark Adair, Zeeshan Naseer, and Kadeem Alleyene toppled the opposition batters to 79 in ten overs. In response, the hosts lost Paul Stirling for a golden duck, courtesy of a terrific delivery from Jason Behrendorff in the first over. However, Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow joined hands to decimate the opposition by counterpunching them. Salt raced to a 19-ball half-century to finish off the chase in 5.4 overs, highlighted by a 34-run over off Gulbadin Naib.
Following the match, the camera focused on a playful banter that involved Rashid Khan and Salt. Since the next game was scheduled at the same venue, Rashid of Bangla Tigers was seen interacting with other players. Soon, he grasped Salt’s neck and choked him with a smile on his face. Salt gasped to breathe but was smiling at the same time. The playful banter became the highlight of the opening day in Abu Dhabi T10 and the Twitterverse buzzed about it.
