Swansea City: Luke Williams goes on European scouting trips with no sign of Joe Low deal

Low, 22, is understood to be out of contract at the end of the season, though Wycombe would be entitled to a compensation payment should he move on in the summer because of his age, meaning there is no pressure on the League One promotion hopefuls to sell.

Swansea are not only the Championship club interested in the Bristol City academy product, with any potential deal further complicated this week by the departure of Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield, who has taken over at Luton Town.

“This one is not completely down to us now because the manager left and it means there’s some business that has to be done at their end before they even talk about moving on a key player,” Williams said.

“If you are going into that club now or interviewing for that job, I am pretty sure you want to have a say on what happens with Joe Low because he has been an absolute top performer for them and they are going very well.”

With 18 days to go until the transfer window closes, Williams remains “optimistic” that Swansea will bring new faces in.

There have only been departures so far, with defender Nelson Abbey’s season-long loan from Olympiakos cut short and goalkeepers Andy Fisher and Nathan Broome heading out on loan.
