A stadium on the Pune-based Military Sports activities Institute (ASI) shall be named after Tokyo Olympics gold medalist in Javelin throw, Subedar Neeraj Chopra, at a ceremony which shall be presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the institute on August 23. The defence minister can even felicitate 16 Olympians of the Indian Military on the event.
Chopra (23), who was inducted into the Indian Military within the sports activities quota in 2016 on the rank of Naib Subedar as a young person, obtained a large chunk of his teaching, coaching and administrative help on the ASI. Established in 2001 because the premier sports activities coaching institute of the Indian Military below Mission Olympic programme, ASI is a multi-disciplinary sports activities coaching institute. It imparts coaching in seven fields: archery, athletics, boxing, diving, wrestling, fencing and weightlifting.
Singh shall be on a one-day go to to Pune on August 23, when he’ll preside over capabilities on the Defence Institute of Superior Applied sciences (DIAT) and the ASI.
