With Lucas Vázquez as the only viable option and Fede Valverde filling in when necessary, Real Madrid is eyeing Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold to fill the gap.
Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool expires in 2025, but the club is reluctant to lose him for free. Real Madrid reportedly made a €15 million offer on New Year’s Eve, which Liverpool rejected. They are now considering increasing their bid to €20 million. However, Spanish outlet ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’ has suggested that Liverpool would only entertain an offer between €35 million and €40 million for the defender.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is also exploring other options, including bringing back Álex Jiménez, a product of their youth academy, on loan from AC Milan, or targeting Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez. Despite financial constraints ruling out other targets like Dumfries and Pedro Porro, the club is determined to strengthen the right-back position by February 3, the transfer window deadline.
