After bundling Jammu and Kashmir for 206 on the second day’s morning session, the hosts got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal blazing all guns. As the partnership grew by 50 runs, the pair departed, making way for Ajinkya Rahane. However, the captain failed to get assistance from the partners, before the umpire signaling him out to call back into the field.
The opening ball of the 25th over saw Umar Nazir Mir bowl a down the leg stump line length delivery that Rahane nicked en route to the wicketkeeper. However, drama unfolded when Rahane reached the dugout and was summoned into the field to bat. Meanwhile, the next batter Shardul Thakur, who already trudged into the field, was sent back, stirring sheer confusion. For a minute, the fans and commentators thought Shardul was timed out. Later on, it was known that the bowler overstepped and a no-ball was signaled. Ironically, the no-ball was not shown in the feed of Jio Cinema, the official broadcaster for the Ranji Trophy season. Rahane didn’t even last long as a terrific Paras Dogra catch inside the 30-yard circle led to his departure. The whole incident sparked ultimate drama on the field and sent the Twitterverse abuzz.
Ajinkya Rahane was given Out and he left ground and umpires called him back from dug out and Shardul was in the ground and sent back to the dressing room. Have you ever seen that a player called from dug out after he left field. #RanjiTrophy #AjinkyaRahane @BCCIdomestic @BCCI pic.twitter.com/LH3a8vtilo

Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane was called out of the dressing room to play about five minutes after being given out in the Elite Group A match of the Ranji Trophy, while Shardul was asked to go out. pic.twitter.com/7uHW7e41zV

Lord Shardul for you!
Hahaha!
You have Rohit Sharam, Shreyas Iyer, Rahane, Jaiswal, Dube but have to be saved by Lord Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian with the bat 🤦 https://t.co/abWnLjx7EA

That was massive drama out there!
Rahane was out, he went back in the dugout, the next batter came out on the field, stayed there for 5 minutes and they called Rahane back saying it was a no ball, like how? And they didn’t even show the replay of the front foot no ball. 😭😭😭😭

Among all things Only Rahane has to blame himself, He is having the form and touch but wasting by his shot selection once again, @ajinkyarahane88 I request you to pls value your wicket and play an innings without hitting ball in the air. #Rahane
