BHUBANESWAR: Individuals with driving licence for gentle motorcar (LMV) in non-transport class can now drive any LMV beneath transport class, as per a notification of the State Transport Authority (STA).
In its order on Wednesday, STA stated that LMV driving licence holders can drive transport class automobiles (items and passengers) like mini-bus, mini-truck, taxi, auto-rickshaw, gentle industrial automobiles, and others, and not using a separate transport endorsement in a driving licence.
“As per the path of the Supreme Court docket in 2018, Ministry of Street Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had issued an advisory stating that the necessity to acquire a transport licence will come up solely to drive medium/heavy items and passenger automobiles,” stated Transport Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the State Transport Authority (STA), Sanjeeb Panda. All RTOs have been directed to comply with the instruction of MoRTH .
He stated, Odisha Motor Automobiles Division officers won’t subject e-challan in opposition to an individual having gentle motorcar licence for bike with out gear, bike with gear, gentle motorcar and e-rickshaw/e-cart and located to be driving LMV industrial or items automobiles, he added.
In one other growth, STA introduced that 15 RTOs within the State have began receiving recent DL purposes from October 8.
“Directions had been issued to all of the RTOs to renew DL ability check from September 18 with slot capability of 40 per cent because of the coronavirus pandemic. On reviewing the DL check slot reserving standing, it was noticed that the demand for a similar has come down in 15 RTOs,” stated Panda.
The 15 RTOs are Chandikhole, Barbil, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Phulbani, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Rayagada, Angul, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Deogarh, Malkangiri and Bhanjanagar.
