Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said Wednesday it’s “frustrating, disappointing” that he and teammate Travis Kelce were recently targeted by burglars.
Mahomes and Kelce, the star tight end and boyfriend of global megastar Taylor Swift, were both break-in victims at their respective homes just outside of Kansas City, Missouri.
“Obviously it’s frustrating, disappointing,” Mahomes told reporters in advance of his team’s big upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills. “I can’t get into too many of the details because the investigation is still ongoing. But obviously it’s something that you don’t want to happen to, really anybody, but obviously yourself.”
The QB’s house in Belton, Missouri, was hit in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 while Kelce’s place in Leawood, Kansas, was broken into on Oct. 7.
The players were apparently not home as they prepared for Kansas City’s Monday Night Football win over the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 7. Mahomes, though, declined to discuss his whereabouts at the time burglars struck,
“I can’t speak too much about the details of everything, just with the investigation going on,” Mahomes said. “But I’m sure at some point that will be talked about.”
It wasn’t immediately clear what was taken from Mahomes’ home.
A police report obtained by NBC affiliate KSHB of Kansas City showed that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home.
