PAK vs ENG | Twitter in splits as Rizwan’s anti-bazball effort with 12-Ball duck on Multan’s highway

Mohammad Rizwan AUS vs PAK Boxing Day Test MCG PCB

‌Pakistan remained in control, continuing their steady run flow, led by centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood. On the second day, overnight batters Naseem Shah and Saud Shakeel resumed proceedings, with Shah embracing a Bazball-like approach. The pacer smashed three sixes before being dismissed, bringing Mohammad Rizwan to the crease. Rizwan, however, couldn’t contribute, departing for a duck.

Rizwan came in to bat during the 106th over after Brydon Carse scalped Shah. The 32-year-old appeared overly cautious on the flat Multan pitch, defending deliveries with little intent. His brief stint ended soon after, as he looked increasingly vulnerable. On the fifth ball of the 109th over, Jack Leach bowled a flighted delivery around the off-stump. Rizwan, attempting to step out and clear the mid-off, misjudged it, hitting the ball off the toe end of his bat. It sailed straight to Chris Woakes at mid-off, who completed an easy catch. Woakes had taken a few steps forward, tempting Rizwan into the lofted shot, only for him to fall into the trap. The incident quickly spread on social media, with the Twitterverse abuzz with reactions.
