The Orissa Environmental Society (OES) organised its fortieth Basis Day and award operate held right here.
The celebration was organised underneath the chairmanship of its president Dr Sundara Narayana Patro. The chief visitor was Director, NISER Bhubaneswar Prof Sudhakar Panda and the chief speaker was former Adviser, MoEFCC, Dr Veerendra Pratap Upadhyay.
Chief visitor Prof Panda highlighted the intense present environmental challenges confronting the world and the significance of sustaining the standard of the environment. He emphasised that Odisha must be given added consideration as regards correct waste administration, biodiversity safety, air pollution prevention and addressing local weather irregularities.
Chief speaker Dr Upadhyay delivered the tenth Prasanna Kumar Sprint memorial lecture and spoke on the subject, ‘Setting Odisha: The best way ahead’. Expressing that the pure setting of Odisha may be very charming, he revealed how progressively its high quality is being negatively impacted by industrialisation, mining and different developmental programmes. Sustainable and even handed use of assets, extracting usable supplies from wastes and recycling them, conserving the highest in addition to sub-soil and planting native species have to be given high precedence, he added.
The chief visitor bestowed with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ on educationist and environmentalist Dr Bharat Panda and ‘Dr BC Panda Award for Setting and Science Communication’ on educationist and science-writer Dr Murari Mohan Sprint. Dr Sudhakar Kar, Prof Nimai Charan Mishra and Dr Pradip Kumar Pattajoshi have been honoured because the fellows of the Society.
Dr BM Faruque, Prof Nirmal Chandra Sprint, Prof P Sasi Bhusana Rao, Jitasatru Mohanty and Swadesh Sundar Patnaik have been felicitated as senior life members of OES.
Dr Patro in his presidential remarks highlighted the Society’s previous, current and future plan of action, emphasizing that it has been taking part in the position of a torch-bearer within the setting frontier. At the start, secretary Dr Jayakrushna Panigrahi delivering his welcome tackle opined that whereas the world is presently distressed with a collection of environmental crises, selfless contributions of organisations just like the OES carry appreciable significance.
