Bhubaneswar: After coming underneath hearth from varied quarters for elevating the electrical energy tariff, the State authorities on Wednesday mentioned it’s going to urge the Odisha Electrical energy Regulatory Fee to rethink the hike.

The OERC just lately authorized a minimal rise of 30 paise per kWh/kVAh in power costs for all different class of customers for the monetary yr 2021-22.

In his assertion within the State Meeting, Power Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra mentioned the federal government will urge the OERC to rethink the hike in power costs.

Earlier within the day, the Opposition BJP and Congress stalled the proceedings of the State meeting demanding a rollback within the energy tariff hike.

“The Odisha Electrical energy Regulatory Fee (OERC) has hiked 30 paise per unit on the behest of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Congress will hit the streets towards it,” Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati mentioned.

BJP MLA and Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi mentioned. “That is the second time that the State authorities has given an electrical shock to the frequent man. Youths misplaced their jobs throughout Covid-19 pandemic and the State authorities has failed to supply them work. Throughout such a precarious time, energy tariff hike is ill-fated. We demand its speedy rollback.”

The tariff revision which can be efficient from April 4 quantities to five.60 % rise within the total retail provide tariff.

As per the revised tariff, customers now must shell out Rs 3 per unit for the primary 50 items of energy consumption, Rs 4.80 per unit for consumption above 50 items as much as 200 items. If customers use the electrical energy between 200 to 400 items, they must pay Rs 5.80 per unit and on the consumption of greater than 400 items, they must pay Rs 6.20 per unit.

Additionally it is introduced a two per cent rebate on the invoice to the LT home and single-phase general-purpose class of customers who pay by way of digital means. The rebate can be relevant to all pre-paid costumers.
