Odisha Govt asks universities to implement e-Office

BHUBANESWAR: The upper schooling division on Friday requested state universities to implement e-Workplace for official work. It’s developed by the Nationwide Informatics Centre (NIC). It’ll make the workplace paperless and improve transparency in workplace work.

Division secretary Saswat Mishra has written letters to vice-chancellors of 12 state public universities for implementation of the e-Workplace system. It’s a digital office resolution for presidency or semi-government places of work. It’s already applied in different components of the nation, he added.

Centre for modernising authorities initiatives (CMGI), a society underneath the executive management of normal administration and public grievances division, is the authorised company to implement e-Workplace in state authorities places of work/institutions together with state public universities.

“As e-Workplace implementation bills are borne by CMGI out of its personal finances, state public universities would not have to incur any bills on account of implementation of e-Workplace,” mentioned Mishra within the letter.

He mentioned this technique will improve transparency, enhance accountability and guarantee knowledge safety/integrity. It’ll additionally remodel work ethics in places of work. “Due to this fact, you’re requested to kindly contact CMGI for early implementation of e-Workplace in your college,” mentioned Mishra within the letter.

CMGI official sources mentioned the recordsdata might be paperless. “It will likely be saved electronically within the cloud. Even the recordsdata can have digital signatures. This course of may be very easy and any officer who’s away from his workplace can clear the recordsdata digitally. This may save time and assist meet the deadline for the workplace,” he added.

The officer mentioned the recordsdata can’t be tampered. “These e-files can’t be misplaced just like the paper paperwork. If any officer desires to tamper a file, the system will present the digital footprint. Generally, paper paperwork get broken due to the fireplace accident. Nevertheless it won’t occur within the case of the e-Workplace system,” he added.

The e-Workplace system has been applied in 100 places of work of the state together with Commissionerate Police workplace, Odisha Public Service Fee (OPSC) workplace and Odisha College of Agriculture and Expertise Bhubaneswar (OUAT).
