‌Mumbai to host knockouts as BCCI announces WPL fixtures across four venues

The 2025 WPL fixtures were released via Hotstar with the first match to be played between the Gujarat Giants and the defending Champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the newly built Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara. The league will be spread across four legs with the knockouts being staged at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai.

The first leg will continue until February 19 before action switches to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This leg will commence after a day’s gap and run until March 1 with the defending champions playing four of their eight games here. Four games are scheduled at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on March 3, 6, 7, and 8. Three of them will be played by the UP Warriorz, probably the reason why there are more gaps between these fixtures. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be staged in Mumbai on March 10, and 11 followed by the Qualifier 2 and Final on March 13 and 15 respectively.

Certainly, the ploy to expand the venues will hand an unfair home advantage to a few teams. RCB is playing four games in Bengaluru, GG and UPW are playing three games each in Vadodara and Lucknow respectively while all games would be home affairs for Mumbai Indians, provided they make it to the top four. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will be the only teams to play all their matches without crowd advantage.
