Mark Williams: Former World champion requires oxygen during match

Three-time World Snooker champion Mark Williams required oxygen during the interval of a match at an exhibition event in Tibet.

Williams, 49, posted a photo of himself on social media wearing nasal tubes and connected to an oxygen tank.

The Welshman is taking part in the Tianren Cup Lhasa Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge in Tibet.

But Williams reassured his followers on X by saying: “I’m fine, I’m not sick.”

Lhasa is located 11,998 feet above sea level and the high altitude means there is less oxygen available.

Williams has won 26 ranking events during his 33 years as a professional.

In 2023 at the age of 48, Williams became the second-oldest winner of a snooker ranking title in history when he won the British Open.
