Manchester United continues to struggle under Ruben Amorim, largely due to the absence of a prolific striker. Clinton Morrison believes United should have done more to sign Harry Kane before his €100m move to Bayern Munich. With only one senior signing in January, United’s low goal tally highlights their attacking weaknesses in the Premier League.
For the past few months, Manchester United has struggled under new manager Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November. Despite their impressive Europa League form, their Premier League campaign has been disappointing, with a lack of goals being a major issue.
Amorim had urged the club to sign a top-class striker in the January transfer window to improve their attacking output. However, United failed to secure a significant forward, bringing in only wing-back Patrick Dorgu. Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison believes United missed a crucial opportunity by not signing Harry Kane before he moved to Bayern Munich in 2023. Kane has scored 27 goals in 24 Bundesliga games this season, while United’s top scorer, Rasmus Højlund, has only managed 8 league goals.
Due to the lack of attacking reinforcements, Amorim was forced to play young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in an advanced role in February. He admitted that the club tried everything to strengthen the squad but faced difficulties in the transfer market.
With only 39 goals in 26 Premier League games, United’s scoring struggles continue to be a major concern. Amorim now faces a challenging task in restoring the club’s attacking prowess and securing a top-four finish.
