It’s a trophy heist as cricketers turn spies in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promo – Culture

International cricketers turned spies in the newest promo for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promo released on Wednesday.

The promo featured Pakistan’s Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, India’s Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Wales’ Phil Salt, all battling for the trophy in a Mission Impossible-esque sequence.

The promo begins with Khan lowering Afridi headfirst toward the trophy from a hole in the ceiling à la Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Khan warns Afridi to be careful as there’s danger all around them. “One wrong move and it’s all over,” says Afridi.

The scene then shifts to Pandya, who tosses a cricket ball, only for it to be sliced in half by a laser. “Can you do this Hardik?” asks a voice through the receiver in his ear. In the comment section, many fans believed this was the voice of Virat Kohli.

“This is a champion’s game, it’s all on the line,” responds Pandya. He then engages in some hilarious yet impressive acrobatics to make his way to the trophy. Our favourite comment of all time has to be fans who are calling him “Kung Fu Pandya”.

Nabi drills his way from the floor and Salt teleports himself in, with all four rushing to grab the trophy.

“15 Matches, 8 Teams, 1 Champion. It’s ALL ON THE LINE!” reads the caption of the video, and from the acting skills on display, it certainly is.

The first match of the tournament is in Karachi on February 19, between Pakistan and New Zealand.
