Indo-US ties go way back, focus on peace, freedom, says US Intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, in an exclusive interview with NDTV, said that the relationship between India and the US has a long history and that the Trump administration is focused on peace, prosperity, and security.

“The ties between the US and India go very, very far back and what we are continuing to see is strengthening of that partnership and recognising that the mutual interest of both countries are centred around peace, prosperity, freedom, and security,” she said during the interview.

Gabbard is visiting India as a part of her multi-nation visit. The Asia leg of Gabbard’s trip will culminate in an address on March 18 at the Raisina Dialogue, a multinational gathering of security officials in Delhi, to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited her.

The US intel chief Gabbard will hold bilateral meetings with Indian officials and officials from other countries, The New York Times reported, citing a Trump administration official.

Her visit to India follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in February this year.
