THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an effort to advertise sports activities actions for prisoners, Indian Oil in affiliation with Poojapura central jail within the capital have began a venture referred to as ‘Parivarthan’. The Parivathan is a nationwide venture which is being carried out at chosen jails within the nation.
Indian Oil chairman Srikanth Madhav Vaidya inaugurated the venture at Poojapura Central Jail on Sunday wherein DGP(Prisons) Shaik Darvesh Saheb, Indian Oil chief basic supervisor VC Asokan attended. As a part of the venture, jail inmates can be educated in badminton, volleyball, chess, tennis and caroms to uplift their bodily and psychological well-being.
Along with leisure, the aim of ‘Parivarthan’ is to offer alternatives for them in native competitions. A complete of 129 prisoners have been chosen for the four-week coaching. Internationally acclaimed athletes who’re a part of Indian Oil will lead the coaching programme.
Badminton gamers Abhin Shyam (Arjuna Award winner) and Trupti Murugunde (Commonwealth medal winner, Dhyan Chand Award winner) SK Arun Vishnu (nationwide champion) Girls’s Grandmaster Padmini Routh (Chess) Rushmi Chakraborty (nationwide champion) Ramesh Babu, S Parimala Devi and Srinivas are among the many coaches.
Indian Oil chairman Srikanth Madhav Vaidya mentioned that Indian Oil is concerned in quite a few social welfare programmes. One other programme has been launched to offer employment to those that are launched after imprisonment, primarily as buyer attendants at petrol pumps, he mentioned.DGP Sheikh Darwish Saheb thanked Indian Oil for the initiative.
He mentioned the state Prisons Division is curious about collaborating in Indian Oil’s inexperienced vitality ventures in future.
