‌Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir draw curtain on their international career

On Saturday, renowned Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim announced their retirement from international cricket. Both cricketers had reversed their retirement earlier, before the 2024 T20 World Cup but have decided to conclude their respective international career now.

Wasim, who represented the Men in Green since 2015, scored 1540 runs and scalped 117 international wickets. The all-rounder was vice-captain during Pakistan’s maiden Champions Trophy title in 2017. In the same tournament, Amir was pivotal with the ball as his final heroics against India remain etched in the annals of Pakistan cricket for a lifetime.

Amir has represented the Asian country for 159 games across formats, picking up 271 wickets at a bowling average of 27.98.

A day after Wasim announced his retirement via social media, Amir’s handle put up a similar message on retirement from international cricket. Surprisingly, left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan followed their path and called his time off from international cricket on Sunday. In a space of three days, many Pakistan cricketers hung their boots at the international level.

Irrespective of the fact, they will be representing the T20 and T10 franchise tournaments around the globe with Wasim and Amir’s latest outing having come at the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Wasim’s Morrisville Samp Army were the runners-up while Amir’s New York Strikers failed to qualify for the playoffs.
