Coventry City move to sign Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has hit a delay, with negotiations stalling over bonus payments and add-ons. The 24-year-old, limited to six Scottish Premier appearances this season, was expected to join on loan with a £2m buy option. While Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are also interested, Frank Lampard remains the favorite to secure him.

For the second half of the 2024/25 season, Coventry City boss Frank Lampard’s pursuit of Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has faced complications, delaying the completion of the deal. The club had been set to bring Matondo in on loan, with an option to buy for around £2 million in the summer. However, negotiations have stalled due to issues related to bonus payments and add-ons, according to the Telegraph.

Matondo, 24, has struggled for game time at Rangers under Philippe Clement, making only six appearances in the Scottish Premier League this season, contributing two goals and two assists. A hamstring injury has also hindered his progress. Despite this, the winger remains a target for Coventry City, with Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday also linked to him.

Matondo, who has 12 caps for Wales, has had a varied career, including spells at Schalke 04, Stoke City, and Cercle Bruges, before joining Rangers in 2022 for a reported £1.8 million. Although negotiations are at a standstill, Lampard is still favored to sign Matondo as his first acquisition for Coventry City.
