Ex-Sunderland and Newcastle Player Joins New Club as Free Agent

Former Sunderland and Newcastle full back, Patrick van Aanholt, signs with Sparta Rotterdam for the current season. He has been a free agent since summer, after leaving Galatasaray.

Patrick van Aanholt, who has been a full back player for Sunderland and Newcastle is now a part of Sparta Rotterdam. He left his previous club Galatasaray in the previous summer, and has been without a club since then.

Currently, his transfer to Sparta Rotterdam has been till the end of the current season and van Aanholt has the option to extend it even by another year if he wants. He became a part of the club on Tuesday, as they brought an official announcement for the same.

The club’s director said,“Patrick is a player who has proven himself everywhere and earned his spurs in international football. By signing him, we add quality and experience to our group of players. We are happy to welcome him and wish him good luck at our club.”

It shows that the club, Sparta Rotterdam has seen the player’s potential and his performances could further help the team to perform well in the upcoming competitions. Currently, the team has been on a losing streak in Eredivisie, and will be looking forward to making their defence strong after the inclusion of Patrick van Aanholt.
