For the first time in 10 matches, Delhi FC secured a much-needed victory, defeating Dempo SC 2-1 in the I-League 2024-25 at the Coach Ali Haasan Stadium. The win, their first since December 19, lifted them to 13 points from 17 matches, tying them with Aizawl FC, though they have played one game more.

Delhi FC started strong, scoring within four minutes through Cameroonian Samir Binong, who capitalized on a defensive mistake. They doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Zimbabwean Victor Kamhuka converted a corner from Hridaya Jain. Binong nearly added another, but Dempo’s goalkeeper Ashish Sibi made a crucial save.

Dempo responded in the 36th minute with a brilliant free-kick goal from Trinidadian Marcus Joseph. The visitors showed more urgency in the second half, frequently breaking through Delhi’s midfield. However, Delhi goalkeeper Debnath Mondal preserved the lead with a key save in the 55th minute.

As the match progressed, Dempo pushed for an equalizer but lacked precision in the final third. Delhi FC held on to secure three points, ending their winless streak and keeping their hopes alive in the league.
