Bhubaneswar: A BJP legislator on Friday tried suicide by consuming sanitiser within the Odisha Meeting over paddy procurement points within the state.
Subash Chandra Panigrahi, an MLA from Deogarh constituency, tried to eat sanitiser as a mark of protest when Meals Provides and Shopper Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain was replying to the Home on the paddy procurement points.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha and different legislators managed to stop Panigrahi from consuming sanitiser and recovered the poisonous materials from him.
“I attempted to eat sanitiser because the state authorities left me with no choice. Though the farmers’ subject was raised within the Home repeatedly, the state authorities didn’t pay heed to the plight of the farmers,” Panigrahi instructed mediapersons.
Panigrahi alleged the federal government has didn’t resolve farmers’ points like mismanagement at mandis and token system.
Earlier within the morning, the BJP MLA had threatened to commit suicide to mount strain on the state authorities.
Throughout the first part of the funds session, he had staged a protest within the Home and likewise threatened to self-immolate if all paddy shouldn’t be procured from the farmers on the earliest.
