‌BBL, WATCH | Richardson gets injured on dead ball amidst unique law revolving enclosed stadiums

Laws of cricket play a pivotal part in regulating the flow of matches. While the enclosed stadiums have their laws, Kane Richardson created a buzz by getting injured trying to follow a unique law during the tenth BBL  2025 encounter between the Perth Scorchers and the Melbourne Renegades.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, the Gades capitalised on the moisture present on the pitch and put the opposition in trouble. With the visitors losing four quick wickets within the halfway mark of the first innings, Cooper Connolly tried to soak in pressure and propel the Scorchers to a steady total. In the process, the left-hander faced some trouble from the opposition but luck was in his corner with Richardson failing to get him caught out.

After the fourth ball of the tenth over, Kane bowled a fuller delivery outside the woods that Connolly tried to loft down the ground. However, the batter was early into the stroke and the ball skewed off the blade and rocketed high to hit the top of the inner half of the enclosed dome. As the ball came down, the bowler tried to catch it but in the process, ended up injuring his finger. Subsequently, the physio strolled in and assessed the Aussie. However, if a catch would’ve been taken despite the ball thudding the rooftop, it would have been out, as per the laws. But the new rule also suggests that the particular ball will be called a dead ball, which previously was awarded a six on such a case.

That’s a roofie!!
