The Australian pacers were fueled with energy after an advantageous couple of days on the second day at the Adelaide Oval. Mitchell Starc struck in the first over of the third day after outsmarting Rishabh Pant. From the opposite end, Pat Cummins bowled sharp bumpers to remove Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harshit Rana in no time. Nitish Reddy seemed the only soldier fighting hard with a mix of caution and aggression but was soon outdone by the Aussie skipper’s bouncer trap. After struggling to surpass the lead, the tail whipped around to get India an 18-run lead.
In response, it was just a matter of time before Australia bounced back in the series. Nathan McSweeney caressed a few lovely drives to set the tone before Usman Khawaja hit the winning runs and won the game by ten wickets in hand. This was the shortest Border Gavaskar Trophy encounter in terms of balls (1081) bowled.

Sad
No of Pink Ball D/N tests in Adelaide: 8
Team Batting First Won: 6
Team Batting First Lost: 2
That team: India, both times— Srini Mama (@SriniMaama16) December 8, 2024
Well played
Australia played well from the start. Their playing experience with the pink ball was evident in this match. No panic button yet for team India. too many changes won’t help team cause.#INDvsAUS #RohitSharma pic.twitter.com/eIOmbLY2FT

Fourth consecutive loss under Rohit , out of them 3 cake in India vs a team who just got whitewash in home #INDvAUS #BorderGavaskarTrophy #BorderGavaskarTrophy2024

Struggle is real
When you see NZ struggling and losing badly to England at home, you feel even more bad about the 3-0 whitewash vs them at home. The England team that beat India at home in 2012 had won an Ashes in Australia in 2011.

Please
@BCCI please make Jasprit Bumrah the captain of Team India in Next match.#INDvsAUS | #JaspritBumrah | #RohitSharma pic.twitter.com/Zo9K5j7uI5

Rohit, Kohli, and Ash should retire immediately. They r burden on Indian team.If anyone says that India won’t perform without them, just look at the performance of the current T20 team, even without Bumrah. People used to say the same thing about T20 too.#INDvsAUS#INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/Qf6J9upjQg

Well played
WELL PLAYED 🇦🇺
If we praise the team or a particular player for their good innings, we can/should have the right to criticise the team or a player.. Yes I am talking about TEAM INDIA and some players.. It’s time for some to back off from Tests..#INDvsAUS #INDvAUS— Yug P Parmar 🇮🇳 (@yugparmar03) December 8, 2024
Out of form
After being out of form in last match, team India is back in original form.
And no way they lost by 10 wickets as a tribute to 152-0 and 170-0 against PAKISTAN and ENGLAND💀#INDvsAUS #RohitSharma #ViratKohli #ChampionsTrophy2025 pic.twitter.com/J8JYZBHEyT— Danish A.Rizvi (@Danish639945) December 8, 2024
