The International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Juniors Tennis Championship 2025 kicked off on Saturday at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

According to a press release issued by the PTF, 38 boys and 21 girls from 14 countries — Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Turkiye, Japan, China, Austria, Uzbekistan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Korea and Sri Lanka — were participating in the championships.

The press release said the championship honoured the memory of Zainab Ali Naqvi, who passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 18 while participating in an ITF Junior Tournament in Islamabad last year.

While paying tribute to Naqvi, PTF President Aisamul Haq Qureshi said the tennis fraternity would always remember her passion and dedication to the sport, extending a warm welcome to the international players and wishing all participants the best of luck.

PTF Secretary General Colonel Ziauddin Tufail emphasised that this tournament was a “fitting tribute” to Naqvi’s legacy, promoting the values of sportsmanship and excellence that she embodied.

The main draw will commence on Monday at 10am, the press release said.
