The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach for the upcoming edition. He will join an elusive group of coaching staff including head coach Stephen Fleming, batting consultant Michael Hussey, and bowling coach Eric Simmons.
The CSK official handle announced the arrival of Sriram to bolster their bowling department. A spin-bowling all-rounder during his days, Sriram donned the coaching hat for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) previously in 2019. He also worked with several Australian sides – Australia A and the senior men’s team in 2015 and 2018 respectively.
Following Sriram’s appointment, the CSK’s Twitter handle read,” Say Yellove to our assistant bowling Coach Sriram Sridharan! Brought up from the tracks of Chepauk to a packed portfolio of coaching tenures in Australia and Bangladesh, he embarks on this new journey with the pride!”
CSK finished fifth in the points table last season after losing the virtual knockout against RCB at the fag end of the league stage. They were beaten on net run rate, leading to elimination. The Yellow Army have made notable amendments during the mega auction with Sam Curran, Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Jamie Overton, Deepak Hooda, and Khaleel Ahmed among others strengthening the unit.
They will kick off their campaign against the Mumbai Indians on May 23rd on a double-header Sunday.
