Pakistan beat West Indies by 127 runs in the first of the two-match Test series in Multan. Sajid Khan’s fifer coupled with Abrar Ahmed’s four-for decimated West Indies as Alick Athanaze’s gritty 55 lacked support from his West Indies companions to chase a 261-run target in a rank-turner.
Resuming the innings from the second day, Saud Shakeel failed to replicate their first innings heroics after falling prey to a soft dismissal to Warrican on the day’s first ball. Rizwan was a goner in the left-arm spinner’s next over before Salman Ali Agha and Kamran Ghulam played out 27 balls together. Warrican struck once again from the very same end, leaving Pakistan at 138/6 in 38 overs. They struggled to make runs against the enormous degrees of turn, getting folded for 157, highlighted by Warrican’s seven-wicket haul.
In response, West Indies tried to inherit an aggressive approach against the spinners but the ploy backfired with Kraigg Brathwaite falling in the fifth over to Sajid Khan. The rest of their top five followed suit in quick succession with Sajid claiming a four-for and Nomand getting a solitary wicket by Lunch with West Indies at 53/4 in 15 overs.
In reply, Alick Athanaze tried to inculcate a mix of sweeps and nudges, despite getting beaten now and then. However, his grit and determination under Tevin Imlach’s presence allowed the Windies to nurdle the opposition for 57 balls before the wicketkeeper-batter departed in the 25th over. Kevin Sinclair joined in next and tried to hold one end as Athanaze raced to almost run-a-ball fifty. However, Abrar tasted his third success after earning back-to-back scalps in the 35th over with West Indies at 123/8. A couple of wickets fell in no time as Athanaze and Warrican succumbed to their pressure with Pakistan earning a 127-run victory.

Graveyward!
Sorry BUT that was an absolute horror pitch in Multan!😳It was thrilling and entertaining BUT a 2 Day Test Match…. (in terms of overs WHOLE Test Match only lasted 180 overs….) AND The Pitch turning square from Ball ONE is NOT good IMO!😬🏏 #PAKvWI #PAKvsWI
