Franchise cricket ahs become a breeding ground for cricketing relationships with local stars, national heroes, and international superstars sharing the ground for a shared cause. No wonder then that wholesome moments are on the rise, as witnessed on Friday between Cameron Boyce and Sam Harper.
Melbourne Stars crumbled after an explosive start in their chase of 165 against hosts Adelaide Strikers to fall 15 short of the target in what eventually became a one-sided affair. D’Arcy Short and Lloyd Pope were the catalysts for victory, scoring a 42-ball 60 and scalping three wickets respectively with the latter earning the man of the match honours. His fellow spinner Cameron Boyce did not have such success albeit he did return with decent figures of 1/31 but the Queenslander ensured he made the highlight reels with some great banter involving Sam Harper.
On the last ball of the 11th over, Boyce delivered a juicy full-toss to Hilton Cartwright who slammed the ball down the ground with venom. However, the shot was too straight and hit the stumps, catching the backing-up Harper off guard. The opener quickly rushed back to his crease while Boyce scampered to collect the Kookaburra and peel off the bail-less stump and it was the batter that won this particular batter. Just when the drama seemed done, Boyce nonchalantly turned around with the pole still in hand and imitated thumping Harper in the back with it.
As if once was not enough, Boyce repeated the action only this time angling for the face to make sure his compatriot noticed and draw a grin from the batter.
