‌Stokes missing amidst Anderson’s inclusion in long list of registered players for IPL 2025 auction

Stokes, who represented the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 might have yet to register for the glitterati event after missing out on the previous edition due to workload management. The all-rounder has had torrid times with regular setbacks derailing his journey. Previously, his knee stuttered for a long time and now, he was seen injured in the Men’s Hundred in a Northern Superchargers encounter, sidelining him from the Test series against Sri Lanka.

As per the updated laws of the IPL auctions, a player must register in the mega-auction to be a part of the mini-auctions of the particular cycle unless for an exceptional reason due to an emergency or injury.

Unlike Stokes, English veteran James Anderson, who recently bid adieu to Test cricket has registered for the IPL auction at a base price of INR 1.25 Crore, and might just land his first bid on November 24 or 25. Thomas Draca of Italy is yet another surprising name that may gain bids on the back of his successful stint in the Global T20 League, after which MI Emirates roped in for the forthcoming 2025 ILT20. One of his highlighted moments from the tournament was when Draca cleaned up West Indies power-hitter Kyle Mayers during the six-team franchise event in Canada.

Renowned capped Indians such as Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin have registered themselves for INR 2 Crore base price. The other Indian players with a similar base price are Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Sira,j Washington Sundar, and Umesh Yadav. However, Mumbaikars Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan have registered themselves for INR 75 lakhs base price.

Jofra Archer and Mitchell Starc are two star-studded overseas bowlers who have registered themselves at the base price of INR 2 Crore. There are 91 South Africans have enrolled in the auction followed by 76 Australians and 52 English players. The auction will be staged in Jeddah across two days November 24 and 25.
