The Dutchman’s dismissal means he’s suspended for Monday’s Nations League match against Germany, and has therefore been released early from the Netherlands camp.
Egypt captain Salah scored in his side’s 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier win against Mauritania on Friday.
The winger had been expected to feature in Tuesday’s return fixture but, like Van Dijk, he has been released early.
It is a boost for Liverpool boss Arne Slot ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday (October 20, 16:30 BST).
The Reds headed into the international break at the top of the Premier League table, one point above champions Manchester City.
